Coronary Heart Disease

Observations

• Requires runtime installation to run from CD. Grrr... Something called asym runtime. Installs in %systemroot%\asym.
• Requires Quicktime. If Quicktime is loaded, doesn't add anything or downgrade it (yippee!)
• When run by a user, triggers the NTVDM.EXE process to go nuts. From audit records, looks like we need to open up perms on...

• Software won't run quicktime movies, even though they can manually be ran from the CD. This even fails if run as Administrator.

Install instructions

• Do a fresh install ensuring netscape/quicktime is included...
• md sysdiff and cd sysdiff
• sysdiff /snap snapshot
• Install CD (run setup from CD)
• Move icon from Common Users to All Users, change to run from CD drive letter that will be used for lab computers
• sysdiff /diff /c:"Coronary Heart Disease" snapshot chd.sd
• copy chd.sd to unattend\sysdiff directory
• Update nursing target in $oem$\$$\i\ainstall.cmd to install this sd file

Launch Program

Auscultation of Normal Breath Sounds

Observations

• Uses Windows AVI and BMP
• College purchased site license
• Program has an installer. Why can't people put out a multimedia CD that doesn't require files to go into the system directory?
• C:\WINAUS is default directory
• C:\WINAUS\SESSION.INI must be R/W. It doesn't exist initiaully
• Install puts icon in Common Start Menu. Move to All Users
• Has a login program. Hmmm, to be effective, copy session.ini from profile if it exists, otherwise don't copy at all. When done, copy session.ini to profile. This will require launcher program. Only problem is, batch file terminates after program is launched.
• CDROM drive letter is stored in an INI file. Change if needed.

Installation Steps

1. Install clean system, run sysdiff /snap
2. Run setup on CD, take defaults
3. Remove icons from Common Start Menu
4. Remove wwlogin directory and contents
5. edit %systemroot%\wwsystem.ini and change CD drive as needed
6. Create a batch file, place in c:\winaus directory (see below)
7. copy nul session.ini to initially create it.
8. Create Start Menu folder in all users\programs\nursing called Auscultation of Normal Breath Sounds and point it to launcher batch file, give it an icon out of c:\winaus\winaus.exe file, point to batch file. Make properties so it starts minimized.
9. In ainstall (install program), set perms on session.ini to everyone:c

   Arterial Blood Gas

   Observations

   • Yippee, it can be installed on a network and doesn't write to the program directory. Just writes to the user's windows directory.
   • Dictionary copied to server, but my initial run had it still trying to scarf from cd-rom. This looks "settable."

   Installation Steps

   • Run NETSETUP from CD, install to server. Might want to do this from an expendable station, since it copies some font files and ini files to %systemroot%
   • Do a fresh and minimal install
   • Map G: to \\apache\nt
   • sysdiff /snap snapshot
   • Go to G: (where netsetup installed program files)
   • Run WSSETUP (it installs some font files and other junk)
   • mkdir %systemroot%\profiles\all users\start menu\programs\nursing
   • Copy icon from administrator profile to all users programs into above dir
   • sysdiff /diff /c:"Arterial Blood Gas" snapshot abg.sd
   • Copy to unattend\sysdiff directory, edit ainstall.bat, etc...
