Typical Ranting by Weave

I bet this one will be a bear. PageMaker loves Postscript files. ATM font manager ain't too kosher on NT apparently. Convert to TrueType or fight with ATM font manager. We shall see...

Installation Diary and Observations

Installation Steps

  1. Install a fresh station with netscape and acrobat options set
  2. Run AUTORUN.EXE on CD
    1. Choose Custom install
    2. Install U.S. Dictionaries
    3. Postscript printer descriptions
    4. Add all filters (can never have enough!)
    5. Add all plugins (ditto)
    6. Install color libraries, Tutorial, Extras, Acrobat distiller
    7. Do NOT install ODBC and Apple Quicktime
    8. Install all HP printer descriptions (why not?)
  3. Start Fonts control panel
    1. Install New Font, browse to {cdrom}:\pm65\atm40\psfonts and install all fonts, converting to True Type
  4. mkdir %systemroot%\profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Pagemaker
  5. Create a program icon shortcut to pagemaker executable, set current directory to F:\
  6. Edit c:\pm65\pm65reg.txt file, set to F:\\PM65.CNF
(I like to edit files from another station to keep down changes to the local box between sysdiffs)
  7. regedit HKLM\Software\Adobe\PageMaker65\USENGLSH\PageMaker65\PM65Defaults to the same path
(Again, I like to do it from another box)
  8. Run: sysdiff /diff /c:"Pagemaker 6.5" snapshot pm65.sd
  9. Run Pagemaker, do a spell check to creat ALDUSN.MSP (see above). Copy this to unattend\replace directory

Commands to put into a batch file for auto-install

sysdiff /apply /m n:\unattend\sysdiff\pm65.sd^M
copy n:\unattend\replace\aldusn.msp c:\pm65\rsrc\linguist\prx\usenglsh^M
